Make Medical Education Update (MMU) 2018 by SCOME CIMSA UNRI
On April 13-15 2018 CIMSA Riau University held SCOME’s national meeting, Make Medical Education Update (MMU). This is the third MMU and this year theme is Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional (JKN) or National Health Coverage. JKN is a government program that aims to provide comprehensive health service for all Indonesian.
JKN use the preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative principles as the basis. These principles do promote citizen’s health; however JKN brings challenges to medical workers. JKN has not cover medical workers’ prosperity. On the other side, JKN also demand better skills for every medical worker. By this dilemmas, MMU provide a scientific forum for future medical workers to discuss the program.
The event was held in 3 days
The first day was started with SCOME Session on Riau University campus. SCOME Session is an activity to give participants the latest update of SCOME. On SCOME Session there is an open discussion about SCOME, led by National Committee of Medical Education (NCME): Ariana Maharani, Annisa Pratiwi, and Nia Marlina. After SCOME Session, trainers from NCME, Annisa Pratiwi, Nia Marlina and Nazihah gave a training about “Leadership in Medical Education, CIMSA Program in Medical Education, and Why Medical Education Matters “to broaden the knowledge of the participants. Afterwards, the delegates were taken to Labersa Grand Hotel for a warm Welcoming Party. The Welcoming Party was held to welcome participants with traditional Riau atmosphere like traditional dances, traditional songs and poetry.
The second day started with Project Presentation from SCOME locals. The Project Presentations introduced by the delegates are UIN Health Collaborative, Giving Health Education Over Extraordinary School, Clinical Simulation Training, Psychology and Medical Student Collaboration, Consultation about Academic System and Book Fair. Then, the delegates were involved in discussion with experts in Grand Lectures and Panel Discussion. Like the MMU main theme, Grand Lecture theme was also JKN which focus was today’s Healthcare Issues. The Grand Lecture was led by dr. Haryo Bismantara, MPH from Gadjah Mada University and Siswandi, Deputy Director of Sumbagteg Jambi. After the grand Lecture, the delegates were involved in Panel Discussion with experts in medical field, Dr. dr. Elda Nazriati, M.Kes from Riau University and dr. Haryo Bismantara, MPH. The second day sessions was closed with Small Working Group (SWG) to summarize the lessons acquired from the activities.
The event was brought to the end in a farewell party. Although the farewell party was started with rain, but by the spirit of the OC and the excitements of the delegates, the farewell party went on well. The Farewell Party theme was Back to the 90’s. Delegates performances, bands, and OC’s performance were taking everyone back to the 90’s atmosphere. Decorations, costumes, and the host also increase the enthusiasm from everyonene. In the end, fireworks were launched as the closing of Make Medical Education Update 2018.
On the third day the participants were taking tour around Pekanbaru to buy gifts and at the same time to grow togetherness with fellow delegates and OC. Afterwards the participants returned to the airport and went back to their home. So that is MMU 2018, see you again on the next MMU!
